WELCOME

Dear colleagues,

It is a great honour to host and organise the 40th Annual Meeting of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society, which will take place in Graz, Austria on 8-10 September 2022. The conference will be held at the Congress Graz, conveniently located in the heart of the city.

For the participants that will not be able to come to Graz, the programme will also be available online.

Graz is known as Austria’s culinary and cultural capital. In the historic old town with its roads, streets, squares and courtyards there’s lots to explore and even more to be enjoyed. Discovering the city is a stroll through centuries right into the future. With its historic buildings and the futuristic Kunsthaus and the Mur Island it is for a good reason a UNESCO world heritage site and a UNESCO city of design at the same time.

The conference will bring together experts, practitioners and companies involved in the treatment of bone and joint infections. Professionals attending the conference will benefit from high-level scientific presentations, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities. The scientific programme will be provided with keynote lectures, free paper sessions, industry symposia and posters.

The main conference theme is:

"Walking along the razor’s edge... Challenges and limits in treatment of bone and joint infection"

The topics for EBJIS 2022 are:

  • Bacteriophage therapy
  • Definition and diagnostic criteria for PJI
  • Fracture-related infection: management strategies
  • Native Osteomyelitis
  • Optimising post-operative antibiotic therapy
  • Periprosthetic joint infection of the upper extremity
  • Polymicrobial BJI
  • Spinal implanted related infections
  • Treatment strategies for hip PJI

We look forward to welcoming you to Graz.

On behalf of the local organising committee and the EBJIS Executive committee,

Alejandro Soriano, President of EBJIS
Mathias Glehr, Local chair
